A Police Constable attached to Ofuoma division under the supervision of the Ughelli Area Command, has been detained for allegedly stabbing a bereaved family member of one of the slain police officers, Ujeyah Mathias in an argument between both parties.
The officer identified as, PC Aaron Omosomofa is currently being detained and he is awaiting an orderly room trial for his alleged unprofessional conduct. It was learned.
Sources at the scene disclosed that PC Aaron Omosomofa in company of some other of his colleagues had gone to meet with the late officers bereaved family in preparation for his burial rites slated for May 26,2023 at Uwheru community.
“It then seems there was an argument between both parties and in the process, a member of the family was stabbed and injured.
It would be recalled that the late Ujeyah Mathias was killed by unknown gunmen at Ekredjebor community last weekend in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta state, is set to buried today at his home town.
The killed officer, Matthias Onoriode Ujeyah was allegedly shot dead along side his other colleague whose identity could not be ascertained and one Sgt. Ijebu was seriously injured by their attackers and their two new A-K47 riffles stolen.
Though the Delta State Police Command has remain silent over the killing, it was learned that the bereaved family of late Ujeyah Mathias 29, have concluded arrangement to lay their brother to rest at Erovie quarters of Uwheru Community in Ughelli North.
The death of Ujeyah Mathias, his colleague and Insp. Ifeanyi who was kidnapped and killed is the most recent within three weeks in Ughelli Metropolis.
A senior security source from the State Police Command who spoke on the incident disclosed that the policemen were too casual in carrying out of their duty at that particular time.
“They were attached to the Ofuoma division under the supervision of the Ughelli Area Command.
“The Area Commander ordered for his immediate arrest and detention at the Ughelli ‘A division on Wednesday.”
“And he has been brought here to be tried for stabbing a member of the bereaved family” The anonymous security source disclosed.
When contacted the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe said, “It is an internal matter pls.”
